Camelbak Sequoia 22
The Sequoia 22L backpack is the perfect daypack for outdoorsy women.
Review Summary
The Camelbak Sequoia 22 is made for outdoorsy women. With a whole slew of women’s specific features, like a shorter torso and S-shaped shoulder straps to better fit a women’s chest, Camelbak really brought their A game to the world of women’s outdoor gear.
Plus, the Sequoia 22 prioritizes comfort over everything else with extra padding in the shoulder straps and hip belt to help you charge uphill. If that wasn’t good enough, the Sequoia 22 also has Camelbak’s proprietary Airsupport back panel, which helps increase airflow and allows for adequate ventilation along your back. If you’re a sweaty hiker like me, this will really help increase comfort on those hot and humid days.

How We Got The Results
Comfort
The Sequoia 22 was designed with women in mind. Specifically engineered to comfortably fit a women’s build, with a shorter torso length (15-19 in // 38-48 cm) and S-shaped shoulder straps that curve around the chest, there’s a lot to love with the Sequoia 22 from a women’s perspective.
Plus, the pack has a decent amount of padding in the shoulder straps and hip belt, which is great for providing just a bit of extra support in some more sensitive areas. That being said, all of this extra padding does add a bit of weight, so there are some drawbacks here.
Beyond all of the great women’s specific features, the Sequoia 22 features an incredibly well ventilated AirSupport back panel that helps keep air flowing between your back and the pack all day long. This is really great if you’re a particularly sweaty hiker as it can help reduce the dreaded sweaty back after a long uphill.

Weight
This pack isn’t exactly the lightest option on the market. At 2 lbs 3 oz (1 kg) it’s actually a bit on the heavy side for a daypack. Much of this weight, however, comes from the extra padding on the hip belt and shoulder straps, which significantly increase the comfort level of the Sequoia 22.
Plus, the pack is made with sturdy 200D ripstop nylon on its body and super thick 400D nylon along the bottom, both of which make it a highly durable pack. These durable materials do increase the weight of the pack, though, so there is a trade-off here.
Versatility
The Sequoia 22 is sort of a mixed bag when it comes to versatility. It’s a really great choice for day hikes where you need a lot of gear, but it doesn’t have the technical features necessary to accompany most outdoors enthusiasts on my committing pursuits, like climbing or mountaineering.
But, if what you need is a pack for trips into your backyard mountains, the Sequoia 22 is a good option. Or, if you need to have a good amount of water capacity for your trip, the included 3L water reservoir makes the Sequoia a fantastic choice.
Build Quality & Durability
As we mentioned earlier, the Sequoia 22 is made with 200 denier ripstop nylon along its body and 400 denier nylon on the bottom. Since the average denier (or fabric thickness) of daypacks is usually in the 100D range, it’s clear that the Sequoia is made to last when head-to-head with sharp rocks and plants.
Camelbak is also known for making high-quality features on its packs, and the Sequoia 22 is no exception. This pack is loaded up with different features, all of which feel sturdy enough to hold up against use and abuse in the great outdoors.
