Review Summary & Conclusion

Its design was Inspired by the open-and-shut style of a climbing chalk bag. This Lightweight Black Hole Cinch Pack loads and unloads in a cinch and simple way. It features a clean, simple design that’s perfect for cruising around town or drifting through the hills. This bag is made from lightweight yet very tough ripstop nylon with a TPU-film laminate.

It has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish that resists abrasion and protects your gear from the external effect and damage. The design of the top-loading neatly features a single-pull closure lock, a simple main compartment that has the ability to hold enough for a day’s outing. It also has an internal hydration-compatible sleeve. The Patagonia Black Hole Cinch has a front, zippered stash pocket dedicated to carrying the easily lost small items of daily life e.g. phone, keys, and wallet. There is also an exterior micro daisy chain that provides lash points for a yoga mat or an extra sweater. It has open and highly breathable mesh shoulder straps coupled with a back panel that provides breathable comfort to keep you from sweating too much and keeps you cool during hot weather. There is a top, reinforced haul handle that allows you to carry the Cinch Pack tote-bag style.

The Patagonia Lightweight Black Hole Cinch 20L is an exciting bag pack. Despite the fact that it’s not explicitly specified as a climbing bag pack, it has some features that are very helpful for climbers interested in long routes. If you read this text and you are pretty convinced that this daypack is for you, I would advise you to invest in the Patagonia Black Hole Cinch.

How We Got The Results

Comfort

To start off with, the pack does not have a hip belt despite that I found the overall comfort of the bag fairly nice. The Highly breathable mesh shoulder straps and back panel gives this bag a really comfortable experience when using it. Considering the fact that we all have different body builds, I would advise you to try this bag out before you use it for outdoor events like hill climbing. It’s a good companion if you plan to have a relaxed day.

Weight

The new Lightweight Blackhole line is more flexible and has a thinner design than the former Blackhole line but still is not one of the lightest daypacks on the market. Nevertheless, the weight is not an issue and it feels very light and can easily be packed into luggage or other larger backpacks. If you are looking for a daypack for day to day use, the Blackhole Cinch won’t disappoint you.

Versatility

The unique design of this bag makes it really suitable for urban use. The shape and design make it more convenient to be used in the city than for those who may want to use it as a climbing tool. The twin daisy chains on the pack can be used for different functions like carrying e.g. your yoga mat. Those daisy chains are the only external carry options; there is no top compression strap to secure a rope. Though this pack is reasonably light, the well-padded back added another degree of comfort when I tried to carry much weighty stuff with the bag. It’s a good fit for anyone to try out.

Build Quality & Durability

The 210-denier nylon with TPU (thermoplastic urethane) exterior laminate is thick and tough. This exterior separates the sheets of material laminated to the underlying nylon and feels somewhat like the laminating procedure used to make waterproof gear e.g. rain shells. TPU also adds abrasion resistance and repelled any water or liquid. So the pack will never be soaked or soak out as they say but still the pack is not 100% waterproof because the seams aren’t treated. But what it will definitely do is keep all dog and cat fur away from sticking to the pack. Spilled food, sodas, and dirty floors have little to no effect on the pack so it stays very neat for a long time before you have to clean it. I’ve never even had to consider cleaning my Blackhole Cinch since I bought it.

Yes, water is able to soak through more easily at the top because of the design.

I would not recommend going any higher than 2 liters bladder.

No it’s not waterproof but it’s water resistant. The pack is built with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR finish.

It doesnt have a compartment to make it self-stuffable but it can be packed to almost nothing. Great for traveling and longer expeditions.
